PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - A sharp-eyed Charlotte County deputy noticed someone behind the wheel when he shouldn't have been and made a traffic stop resulting in a drug arrest Tuesday.
The deputy saw Ian Christopher Wichmann, 37, of Punta Gorda, driving a silver SUV in the area of Harbor Boulevard and Gibralter Drive. The deputy had arrested Wichmann before and knew his license had been suspended.
After confirming that Wichmann's driver’s license was not valid, the deputy stopped the SUV and found Wichmann at the wheel. He was placed under arrest as a habitual traffic offender.
During a search of Wichmann, deputies found a glass pipe with white residue in it. They also located a small plastic baggie containing about 0.3 grams of a white crystal substance that tested positive for Methamphetamine in his wallet.
Wichmann was booked into the Charlotte County Jail. He was released on a $6,000 bond.
