FORT MYERS, Fla. - Seniors across Lee County kicked off graduation weekend including Dunbar High School where diplomas were handed out at Harborside Events Center. Last year's Dunbar graduation left some bitter memories for parents due to some surprising parking fees.
FOX 4 brought the controversy to light when parents accused the City of Fort Myers of price gouging by hiring a valent company to handle prime parking and pricing venue parking from $6 to $8.
The Lee County School District made sure there was no repeat of last year's parking fiasco. Just family's pulling up and dropping people off.
Holly Jordan saw last year's mess first hand, "Why would you have valet parking at a graduation, we didn't pay for it last year."
The parking garage was open for business at no cost. The School District had made it clear to the city that it would not hold its festivities downtown if there were a repeat of last year's valet fiasco.
