FORT MYERS, Fla. - A frustrated Southwest Florida mother claims her daughter isn't getting the medical treatment she needs in jail.
Heather Landry broke her arm in a shower accident nearly a month ago after being arrested on drug charges. The pain has been unbearable with only a sling to stabilize it and and pain medication - like Motrin - for one day but then nothing the next.
April 29th - inside the Lee County Jail for Women - inmate Heather Landry fell in the shower.
She knew immediately something was wrong, even when no one else believed her.
She called and begged her mom Kerri Elliott for help.
Elliot says every time they talk she's crying the entire conversation please help me, she keeps begging me for help. please help me. please help me.
Heather told her mom she requested that help every day but was refused. Elliott said "they told her 'your arm in not black and blue, your arm is not swollen therefor it can not be broken."
Turns out it was broken. On May 2nd, Corizon Medical, which handles all the medical needs of the inmates on site, agreed to take an x-ray.
