ESTERO, Fla. - At an Ethan Allen design center in Estero, there are family essentials like beds, dining sets and sofas. The flagship store is a mile from the future site of Hertz's new headquarters off US 41 and Williams Rd.
"When you heard Hertz was moving here, what'd you think?" asked Fox 4 reporter Gabrielle Sarann to Jack Worful, a design center manager. "I think a rising tide raises all ships."
With hundreds of Hertz' employees expected to transfer to Lee County from New Jersey or Tulsa, Worful says he's hoping to see a spike in sales.
"I expect a lot of those employees of Hertz to want to incorporate Ethan Allen into their homes as well," said Worful.
Hertz says the average employee salary will be $102,000 and the estimated economic impact it will have on southwest Florida is $300 million, when the project is complete by 2015.
"We're very excited," added Worful. "I think an influx of professional incomes always helps a community."
Worful says the furniture and styles here are classic designs with with a modern perspective offering a range of price points.
"A lot of folks right now want as much bang for their buck as they can possibly get," said Worful.
