Workers are wanted in southwest Florida, and on Thursday, it was all about teachers.
"It was a little overwhelming, I didn't realize how large of an affair this would be."
The Lee County School District hosting a job fair, hoping to attract some new teaching talent. but it wasn't just local teachers looking for a job.
"I started my day with teaching, up in New York. I rushed to the airport during lunch to come down here to Florida."
Denise Pagliano has been teaching in New York for several years, but now, she's looking for a change.
"The job market in New York is challenging - I'm considering relocating, so I can be closer to my family, and closer to the beach I guess."
And her timing couldn't be better,
"This district has not done a big recruitment fair for the last five years, so this was our first attempt at bringing it back - this year we had 750 new teachers, so we're conservatively estimating we'll add about 500 new teachers next year."
Even though Denise was surprised to see more than 900 potential teachers show up, she says she's cautiously optimistic."
"I'm excited, it would be great to come down, be closer to family and do what I love, teaching, and be in a beautiful area... and not deal with snow."
