FORT MYERS, Fla. - Amy Winship spends a lot of time in the pediatric wing at Healthpark Hospital.
Her son misses school a few days each month to get medical infusions to treat his arthritis.
So she thought it was odd when she got a notice from Mariner high's lunch money program saying his account was low even though she'd recently made a deposit.
She went on-line to my-lunch-money dot-com and looked over her son's withdrawals for last week.
"someone had made a purchase on Monday and Wednesday using his account and he was gone? and he was not in school. He was home sick!" say Winship.
Amy called the school district and wanted to let them know there was a problem and wanted who ever was doing it to stop.
The district did reimburse her for those two purchases for last week but Amy explained that's not the point that she can go back for months and prove other withdrawals were made when her son was out sick.
We got a hold of school board member Jeannie Dozier who was having none of it.
"Well.. stealing is stealing.if you take something that doesn't belong to you, then someone needs to be held accountable." Says Dozier
Dozier contacted the superintendent immediately and soon after, The Principal for Mariner contacted Amy who just wants a system in place to make sure other kids don't have their virtual wallets picked.
