FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fire Chief John R. Wayne said it was an awkward conversation when the wife of one of his Lieutenants walked into his office on February 9th.

In the meeting Chief Wayne learned an affair was going on at Fire station #2  between Lieutenant Larry Arfman and a paramedic... which had been going on for a year and half.

Because Lieutenant Arfmann didn't come forward immediately, the Chief demoted him.

The local union doesn't see Wayne's decision as so charitable.

So FOX 4 tried getting a hold of union representatives -- and Arfmann to see what they thought would be fair.

In the meantime, you're footing the bill for legal fees.
