SWFL Crime Stoppers applauded

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is showing signs of national success.
The program got high accolades this week in North Carolina at a conference for the Southeastern Association of Crime Stoppers.
Most notably awarded the 'most productive' program in the Southeast United States.
Trish Routte also took home the Coordinator of the Year award.
Last year the local program helped net 732 arrests, clear more than 1600 cases and siezed more than $1.1 million in drugs and property.
Coordninator Trish Routte says "The volume of tips we receive shows that people in Southwest Florida want to remove the criminal element from their neighborhoods so that we can all live in a safe community."
She says the awards validate the success of the program.
