Man arrested after causing accident that hurts children
COLLIER COUNTY -- An Immokalee man is in custody after causing a car accident that sent two children and another man to the hospital.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Misael Carballo, 33, of Immokalee was traveling north on Carson Road Friday night at 9:30 p.m. when he decided to turn left on County Road 890.
Investigators believe Carballo didn't see a southbound vehicle and turned into its path. The cars collided and Carballo ran away before authorities arrived.
The accident injured the other vehicle's driver, Michael Espinoza, 29, of Immokalee and a 7-year-old and 4-year-old passenger. A 2-year-old also in the vehicle was not hurt. None of the injured were hurt seriously.
A brief search of the nearby area led to the arrest of Carballo. He did not have a valid driver's license. Espinoza had an expired license.
