FORT MYERS, Fla. - Maria Arias had a Century Link bill that was essentially the same every month, that is until this week when it suddenly shot up for no apparent reason.
Usually, that can only happen if you give permission to a so-called third party vendor .. to "re-bundle" your services- like cable tv or phone lines.
Arias was shocked when she saw her bill double... yet she never ordered any new services.
She called Century Link who told her a third party vendor - called one link comm had re-structured her deal -- which ended up costing her a lot more.
Century Link addressed her problem on the spot... told her not to worry. their policy is clear:
"... we do not tolerate unauthorized charges on our customer's bills. per our policy, we will resolve the issue on the first call by issuing a credit..."
But Maria didn't stop there... she called the third party vendor one link comm to find out how the change could've happened in the first place.
They told her they had a recording of her agreeing to the switch.
But they never coughed up any recording for her.
While Maria didn't authorize any changes -- she strongly recommends you keep a close eye on your utility bills to avoid a similar headache.
Maria and other customers with Century Link now also have the option of using Century Link's global bill block which will prevent any future third-party charges.
