FORT MYERS, Fla. - Power shoppers met some powerful legal advice, all free, Saturday. The Lee County Bar Association sponsored its 19th annual free "Law in the Mall" event.
Four in Your Corner's Warren Wright was there for all the legal wrangling.
John Barber took a seat at a table filled with lawyer seeking free advice. "I'm from Michigan, moved to Florida, and there are some questions regarding wills and estates that I was unfamiliar with so I thought I would come down and hopefully answer some of my questions."
John quickly found out his documents were valid with no problems from members of the Lee County Bar Association along with Florida Rural Legal Services and Lee County Legal Aid Society. These groups were all too happy to make themselves available to people like John and answer as many questions as they can.
Gus Simmons with the Lee County Bar Association said, "There have been some emotions, we've seen some tears but that's fairly normal with certain situations with law and they're also very happy to have their questions answered and have that free advice.
The lawyers find the work just as gratifying according to Simmons, "It's really a relief to put a smile on someone's face to put them in the right direction, even if the news is not necessarily good, at least they now.
So was John Barber who was pleased with the legal advice and decided to stick around, "I've got other questions, so I'm waiting for another attorney for some other issues.
Smart shoppers like John know when they've found a good bargain.
