CLEWISTON, Fla. - A bomb scare early this morning forced the evacuation and closure of the WalMart in Clewiston.
A call came into police at 3:19 a.m. about a device sitting on top of a phone booth in front of the store.
Once the store and parking lot were cleared a call went out for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office bomb squad to come and retrieve the device.
It was discovered that someone had placed a training grenade on top of the phone booth. While the grenade did not pose a threat, police are checking surveillance video to see if they can determine who left the device behind.
The store was able to re-open around 7:30 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
