BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- A TV host from Nat Geo Wild is visiting Bonita Springs.
"I love crocodiles, snakes, spiders, scorpions. If it creeps, crawls, flies...I'm on it and I like it," said Heflick.
Shawn Heflick, host of "Python Hunters," checked out the crocodiles at the Everglades Wonder Gardens. The wildlife rehab clinic is closing at the end of the week and Heflick is looking for some "reptile romance" and hopes to buy a pair of crocodiles.
"I am interested in seeing if there's a sexual pair of crocodiles and if it is it may be going to my crocodile facility which is about crocodile conservation."
Before a price is determined, the gender of a croc must be determined. Females sell for way more than males and there's really only one way to check the gender.
The first crocodile checked is a boy and Shawn and the owner of the Wonder Gardens, David Piper, work together to check another crocodile and the two score a match!
"It's great to know there's another sexual pair of American crocodiles which are protected in the US and available for a breeding opportunity."
The Wonder Gardens has been a landmark in Bonita Springs for close to 80 years. Everything must go and the animals need a home.
"Once the news hit we were closing and some of the animals we have here...we got so many emails. We don't have time to respond to them, emails from zoos and private collectors," said Owner of the Everglades Wonder Garden, David Piper.
There are plenty of people chomping at the chance to buy a piece of local history.
The Wonder Gardens closes on April 21.
