Search on for hit and run driver in Charlotte Couty

PORT CHARLOTTE. Fla. - The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a hit and run driver who struck a Port Charlotte man early Sunday morning and fled the scene.
The FHP says 23-year-old Kyle Wells was walking east on the grass shoulder of Vessels Road just south of Brad Avenue.
A vehicle, believed to be a Mercury Grand Marquis was headed north on Vessels. The FHP says Wells stepped in front of the car which hit him and threw Wells back onto the grass shoulder.
The car then left the scene and continued north on Vessels Road. Law officers searched the area for the car but failed to find it.
