FGCU to start fingerprinting for all staff

CREATED Apr. 12, 2013

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University is requiring all employees, teachers and some students to get fingerprinted.
Some on campus believe spending an estimated 50-thousand dollars for the projects is a waste of money during a time of steep tuition hikes.
They fear it's a knee-jerk reaction that will do nothing to provide real safety.
Some teachers say they would rather see the university install deadbolts and land line phones in all classrooms to promote safety and security.
Those ideas were apparently considered but rejected.
Meanwhile the university is continuing the fingerprinting process.
