Airport speeding lands Lehigh Acres man in jail on drug charges

FORT MYERS, Fla. - A speeding driver spotted by police at Southwest Florida International Airport ended up with much more than a traffic ticket.
Officers spotted a red Jeep traveling at a high rate of speed on Air Cargo Lane just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Airport police gave chase and watched as Douglas Peter Miller of Lehigh Acres pass another vehicle at more than 55 miler per hour as he drove through a construction zone.
Police finally managed to stop Miller in his Jeep with by maneuvering a squad car in front of his and ordered him out of the vehicle. Miller sped off forcing one officer to jump out of the way.
He was finally stopped about 200 yards away. During a search of his vehicle bottles were found with 257 pills. Most of them were prescription narcotics.
Miller was cited for possessing controlled substances without a prescription and speeding through a construction zone.
