CAPE CORAL, Fla. A Montana man's pockets are empty after his dog ate his money.
The canine is in some trouble after the 12 year old retriever ate five 100 dollar bills.
Owner, Wayne Klinkel couldn't spare the cash so he carefully picked through the dog's droppings to salvage what he could.
He says he washed all the pieces and put them together with tape in hopes the Treasury Department will reimburse him.
Some of you here in Southwest Florida don't think he should get the money back..
Sandy wrote on our Facebook page, "Why should the government give him money his dog ate??? If it was the government that ate his money then yea maybe."
Tiffany posted simply, "I don't think so..."
Lou said "No, only if he has proof the dog ate them."
Chris posted, "Yes, it's still stinkin' legal tender!"
Stinkin' money is right.
The bureau's website says an "experienced mutilated currency examiner" will determine if he is eligible for reimbursement.
