NAPLES, Fla.- Collier County plans to extend Whippoorwill Lane. Whippoorwill Lane is currently a dead-end road that runs north to south off of Pine Ridge Road between Livingston Road and Interstate 75. The proposed plan would extend Whippoorwill Lane south from where it currently ends to Marbella Lakes Drive.
Marbella Lakes is a Naples gated community at a dead-end road. The area is now filled with trees and sidewalks for bikers and joggers. Some worry construction would open the quite area to more cars.
The county held its first public meeting on the project in January. The county will host another meeting Thursday night at 5pm. A formal presentation will beginning at 5:30 at the Naples Church of Christ (12760 Livingston Road/Naples).
The county is also looking at some additions to the plan including adding a traffic signal on Livingston Road at Marbella Lakes Drive and also adding turn lanes at the Marbella development entrance.
A county spokeswoman says the project is estimated to cost $1.2 million dollars and need approval by Collier County Commissioners.
