FORT DENAUD, Fla. - The Florida Highway Patrol says a wild crash just west of LaBelle early Tuesday morning claimed the life of a 30-year-old man.
The FHP says Arturo Martinez Vicente of LaBelle was driving his Dodge Durango west on Fort Denaud road at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his pickup.
The pickup left the road hitting a garbage can, then a refuse cart before traveling along the north shoulder of the roadway when it hit a ditch culvert and went airport. The Durango went airport hitting a chain link fench, a tree, then flying across Matthew Creek hitting several more trees.
The truck was left partially suspended in the tree.
The crash killed VIcente. Remarkably three passengers in the pickup suffered only minor injuries.
