NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - Lee County detectives are looking for a trio that went on a shopping spree in late March with stolen credit cards.
The crime started the night of March 22 when the ladies stole an unlocked 2009 Honda Accord from Colony Trace Drive. The owner of the car also noticed that someone had stolen his wife's purse from an unlocked pickup truck which was also parked in the driveway. It was one of several cars targeted that night in the neighborhood.
The next morning before the cards could be canceled, three black women were caught on camera at the WalMart on Colonial Driver and the Winn Dixie in North Fort Myers ringing of hundreds of dollars in fraudulent purchases.
The stolen Honda has yet to be found.
"In most of the credit card thefts we're seeing lately, people are leaving their car doors unlocked, with their personal belongings inside," said Trish Route, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. "We strongly encourage people to keep their car doors locked to always bring their purses, walls and anything of value inside."
Anyone who can identify any of the three women who used the stolen credit cards is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
