FORT MYERS, Fla. - Work is underway behind the scenes and in a very public way to keep Florida Gulf Coast basketball coach Andy Enfield here in Southwest Florida.
Enfield is one of the hot coaching prospects with both USC and Minnesota reportedly ready to make an offer to Enfield after he guided the Cinderella Eagles to the Sweet 16.
Four in Your Corner's Dave Culbreth shows us the lengths some FGCU fans are going to to make sure Enfield stays.
Even Enfield admits it's gotten crazy, "Well anytime you're successful in this business it's just natural. My personal life and my family's personal life have been under such scrutiny the last week, week and a half, that we just want to take a break. Take a deep breath and realize what our team did for this university and this community and we'll go from there in the next few days"
(natsot of chants)
"Andy Enfield, Andy Enfield, Andy Enfield"
You can bet FGCU will do what it can to keep Enfield around. After the team arrived home Sunday here's what the Athletic Director Ken Kavanagh had to say
"You don't worry about too many things in front of us until they happen"
But sooner or later we'll know if Enfield is interested in the Minnesota or Southern Cal job. For now it doesn't sound like Enfield wants to leave. "Anytime you want to build a program you have to keep it going and you have to sustain it and you have to have talented players and make them better and we think we can do that.
