American Idol nail biter! Naples native and Gulf Coast High graduate Lazaro Arbos in the bottom two Thursday night and for his closest friends it was the most intense and nerve wrecking episode of the season.
Lazaro's Pastor, Dave Gipson said he's breathing a huge sigh of relief.
" I was scared to death because he was in the last two they had up there I was worried because of the group number they did last night was kind of shaky even though his solo performance was tremendous." Gipson said.
The judges were impressed wit his performance Wednesday night but producer Jimmy continues to give Lazaro a hard time predicting he'd be the one to go home Thursday night.
"Jimmy doesn't seem to take him seriously and is off putting in his comments about him so Lazaro doesn't need to listen to anything he says because Jimmy is not rooting for him." Gipson said.
But loyal fans in Southwest Florida and the thousands across the country aren't letting that happen.
"What a deserving individual he brings a lot to our church he brings a lot to wherever he is and this incredible journey for him were so very proud of him." Friend Dede Sweet said.
You can watch Lazaro compete with the final seven on American Idol next Wednesday at 8 p.m. on FOX 4.
