FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Mayor of Fort Myers waded into the love fest surrounding Florida Gulf Coast University's surprising run in the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Mayor Randy Henderson called a news conference to issue a proclamation honoring the Eagles for making it to the Sweet 16.
Mayor Henderson says FGCU is shining a positive light on the city.
Even the city's website has adopted the team's moniker, "Dunk City."
FGCU plays Florida Friday night and a win would put the Eagles into the Elite 8.
