Whether you blame Mother Nature or that Punxsutawney Phil, our friends up north just can't escape the brutal winter weather and the frigid cold and heavy snow have Southwest Florida business owners seeing dollar signs.
From the Midwest to the Northeast, residents are getting sick and tired of all that snow.
"Cold, it's windy it's usually cloudy it's very gray all the snow is dirty so end of march is not the greatest time up in Michigan." Visitor Tom Seeber said.
But it is that miserable winter weather the owner of Inn on 5th is cashing in on.
"A lot more snow a lot more cold that tends to push our season out a little further." Phil McCabe said.
Phil McCabe said things usually slow down around Easter but doesn't think that will be the case this year.
"Up and down 5th avenue all of the merchants have the same feeling its been a very strong season." McCabe said.
As long as the northern states keep getting slammed with snow, some tourists are looking at Southwest Florida as a permanently hideaway.
"I actually walked past one of the real estate places and I was very tempted to ask them what it would take to get into a place anywhere near this location." Visitor Henry DePhillips said.
"We've been coming to Naples for close to 20 years we love Naples and are actually thinking about moving down here." Visitor Tom Seeber said.
