NAPLES, Fla.- Will former Governor Charlie Crist fight for his old job back in 2014? Here is what Crist said earlier in March when he spoke at the Democratic Women's Club of Lee County.
"Well, I'm thinking about it. There's no question about that, I haven't reached any conclusions, just taking the opportunity to listen to my fellow Floridians, give it serious thought," said Crist.
The ex-Republican would likely run as a Democrat this time. He says his decision comes down to the mood of the people. Two recent surveys including one from Quinnipiac University show Scott trailing Crist by double digits in the general election match-up. So what does Governor Rick Scott think about his possible opponent?
"Any thoughts on the rumors Charlie Crist might run against you?" asked reporter Julie Salomone.
"Here's what I do, I focus on making sure everyone has a job. By the way, you might know on Friday the President is coming to Florida to talk about jobs. Guess why? Because we are below the national average on unemployment in Florida," said Governor Scott.
Scott not saying much about Crist possibly running, but he points to his success in the Governor's seat.
"Creating new private sector jobs in the last 2 years, and as you know, the 4 years before I became Governor, the state loss over 800,000 jobs, the unemployment tripled and housing market collapsed," said Scott.
Before you count on a Scott/Crist match-up, Crist would first have to win the Democratic primary.
