MURDOCK, Fla. - Two women boldly walked into the Murdock WalMart Sunday and strolled out with shopping carts filled with stolen merchandise Sunday morning. A tip to Charlotte County detectives led to their arrest this morning.
Detectives arrested 31-year-old Nichole Goff and 39-year-old Julie Marie Northcutt at their Port Charlotte home.
The two are charged with grand theft for stealing $624 in merchandise from the store.
Goff went to the Electronics Department and put a 32-inch Samsung television in her cart; then two other electronic items and also put them in her cart. Northcutt went to the Home Department and put a $198 Pro Shark Vacuum in her cart. Both left the store passing all points of sale; they put the stolen merchandise in the bed of a red Chevrolet pickup and drove off.
Both said they were going to turn themselves in and realized they were wrong for stealing items from WalMart. Goff and Northcutt also said they had bad drug problems and stole the items from WalMart to sell for pills. Both said they had already sold the stolen items for four pills. Detectives are continuing the investigation.
