Labelle, Fla. - A high school student was killed in a crash Monday afternoon in Hendry County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 18-year-old Margarito Reyes died after his pick up truck struck a group of trees near Cowboy Way and Eucalyptus Boulevard in Labelle.
Troopers who investigated think Reyes lost control of his truck, crossed the center line, and started spinning out of control.
The truck then hit several trees and wound up lodged in them. The 18-year old was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
As far as what caused the crash FHP says it could have been a number of things including speed to a distraction or wet roads or even mechanical failure.
A full investigation will determine that. FOX 4 talked with several people where the teenager worked and all said Reyes was a good kid.
This is the second time in two months that a La Belle High School student has died in a vehicle accident.
On January 14th, another student 18-year old Ryan Hellard was in a crash where the SUV he was in flipped over. He died four days later. Three of Hellard's family members along with another person were also hurt. FHP says none of the five were wearning seatbelts.
