FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. - Several business owners are waiting it out, and missing out on potential spring break business because of permit problems with the town.
The establishments want to serve alcohol on the sand, but have to wait to be approved through the permit process.
Fox 4 Rising's Colleen Hogan has reaction from beach-goers.
"We come here for 'Top of the Mast' really," tourist Jayson Ditzel said, of the one of three establishments where you can have alcohol on the beach. "We go over there because we can have a drink and the kids can play. We're all responsible adults, there's no reason we can't have a drink on the beach."
"I think they should be able to sell alcohol on the beach," spring break tourist Tiffany Haines said. "But again I liked that this side was quieter, a lot more families."
None of the restaurants wanted to be interviewed for the story. One owner told us, she expects the process to drag on for a few more weeks.
