Man arrested after flooding North Naples hotel

CREATED Mar. 8, 2013

NORTH NAPLES, Fla. - Firefighters and deputies encountered a massive mess at the Hampton Inn in North Naples located next to Hodges University Thursday night.

Water flooded through three floors, all caused by an irate guest who had punched a hole through a bathroom wall and a water pipe had been ruptured.

Deputies say they found 28-year-old Thomas Flipse of Jacksonville inside a third floor guestroom, inside the bathroom yelling and wearing.

Thomas was finally subdued and taken into custody, first going to the North Collier Hospital to get checked out.

Investigators found alcohol and marijuana in his room.

Inside the hotel water had damaged the carpets of 22 rooms and in the hallways of three floors.

The water also damaged the drywall and ceilings of the rooms and floors.  The dollar amount is not known at this time.

Thomas was charged with criminal mischief, a felony and disturbing the peace.
