2 dead in Punta Gorda house fire

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Punta Gorda police identified a couple killed Thursday morning in a house fire int he 300 block of Sorrento court.
Detectives say 85-year-old John Fitzmaruice Jr, and 79-year-old Carol Fitzmaruice were found dead in the master bedroom and master bathroom.
Evidence at the scene suggests the smoky fire started in the living room, was accidental and most likely was caused by faulty electrical wiring.
The Charlotte County Medical Examiner's Office will be making an official ruling related to the cause of death, but investigators believe the deaths are accidental.
Firefighters say the home had no working smoke alarms.
