SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - A morning bike ride ended in disaster for an elderly South Fort Myers man.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 87-year-old Kenneth Davis was riding his bicycle on a cross walk at Shell Point Boulevard and Woodsong Lane when he was struck by a car.
The impact sent Davis flying more than 60 feet. The crash left Davis in critical condition at Lee Memorial Hospital.
The driver, 35-year-old Jared Pike told the FHP he saw the bike but couldn't stop in time.
The FHP cited Pike for failing to yield the right of way.
