Fingerprints lead Cape police to burglary suspect

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Cape Coral police arrested 19-year-old David James Marrs on charges of burglary and grand theft, thanks to a dropped cigarette carton.
Marrs is charged with the February 10th break-in at the Shell Gas Station at 4403 Del Prado Boulevard South.
Police say that someone between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. tried to pry the back door off the the gas station. Finally the suspect went to the front door and broke it to gain entry.
Once inside the thief took cigarette cartons, lighters, lottery ticks and $500 in cash. But the burglar dropped a few cigarette cartons on the ground as he made his escape.
Officers arrived and managed to lift a fingerprint from one of the cigarette cartons and found a print belonging to Marrs.
Police went to Marrs' Cape Coral home and found the cigarette cartons, lighters and lottery tickets and after questioning him placed him in custody.
