ENGLEWOOD EAST, Fla. - Charlotte County detectives arrested an Englewood East man for robbing a 16-year-old boy last week.
The parents of the victim called the CCSO saying their son was stopped while riding his bike and hit in the face three to four times by a man driving a silver Ford pickup.
Butler claimed a camouflaged jacket was stolen from his pickup. The boy says the jacket was given to him to wear home from a friend's house.
A deputy found the pickup and Butler who said he got out of his pickup and somehow fell on top of the male and couldn’t remember if he hit him or not.
Butler said he was angry and was very upset, but never ripped the jacket off the boy by force. Butler said he never filed a police report for the burglary to his pickup and wasn’t sure why he didn’t contact CCSO concerning the incident with the boy on the bicycle.
Butler was freed after posting a $20,000 bond. Detectives are still investigating the pickup burglary and the jacket theft.
