Boy found safe after extensive Fort Myers Beach search
FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. - A busy Sunday evening on Fort Myers Beach as deputies searched by air and foot for a missing 9-year-old boy.
The boy was last seen around 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Just before 6:30 p.m. a deputy could be heard over the loudspeaker of his car thanking people on Fort Myers Beach for the search and that the boy had been found safe.
Lee County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Larry King said the boy was headed toward the pier on Fort Myers Beach when he went missing.
The sheriff's office had a helicopter out searching as well as K-9 units on the ground.
