South Fort Myers crash claims life

SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - A crash at College Parkway and Whiskey Creek Drive Saturday morning claimed the life of a 71-year-old Connecticut woman.

The Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash and found that 77-year-old Michael Rudd of Woodbridge, Connecticut attempted to make a left turn from eastbound College Parkway onto Whiskey Creek Drive.

Rudd turned his car into the path of a Ford pickup driven by 22-year-old Joshua Todd of Fort Myers. 

Todd's pickup hit the passenger side of Rudd's Honda.  The crash critically injured Betty Fried also of Woodbridge who later died at Lee Memorial Hospital.

Todd and his three passengers were uninjured.

Rudd is in serious condition and was cited by the FHP for failure to yield the right of way.
