FORT MYERS -- Fort Myers Police have located the body of a man who jumped from the Edison Bridge Friday night.
Police say the man called 911 shortly after 10:30 p.m. and said he was going to jump from the bridge. Law enforcement responded and found the caller hanging from a ladder on the southbound span of the bridge.
Shortly after police made contact with the man, he jumped from the bridge. The Fort Myers Police Department and Lee County Sheriff's Office started a massive search for the man, while the bridge was partially closed overnight. The man's body was discovered in the water shortly before 3 a.m.
The bridge has re-opened and law enforcement is working to identify the man's family.
