Motorcycle maniac sought in Collier County
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - A motorcyclist with a dangerous need for speed is terrorizing motorists in Collier County and Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for your help in tracking him down.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office is searching for 23-year-old Jeffrey Arthur Perkins. Deputies spotted Perkins on his motorcycle Wednesday afternoon speeding northbound on Collier Boulevard at roughly 70 miles per hour.
Deputies say Perkins was weaving dangerously in and out of traffic. On the motorcycle with Perkins was a rider in a bright green shirt, black backpack and no helmet.
As the deputy went after Perkins he hit even faster making his way to Immokalee Road where he hit speeds of up to 125 miles per hour. Perkins ditched law officers when he turned onto unpaved Rock Road speeding through the neighborhood.
Deputies later found his bike in tall grass at the end of Shady Lane tracing it back to Perkins. Investigators discovered that Perkins abandoned his last known address and is now wanted on multiple charges.
