Thieves strike at South Fort Myers business
SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - Lee County investigators are looking for suspects wanted in connection with two thefts at Ad Systems in South Fort Myers.
The thieves struck between 2 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday taking more than $60,000 worth of steel and tile boards stored behind the business.
Video cameras captured footage of an older green pick up truck occupied by two white males pulling up to the back of the building on Global Parkway and loading up steel from the scrap dumpster. The vehicle took two separate loads on Saturday.
Then on Sunday a white cargo van pulled up to the back of the building stealing 12 communication tiles valued at $5,000 a piece. Two white males were seen in the video and it is possible it's the two same men seen the day before in the pick up.
Ad Systems began contacting area recycling businesses to see if the items had shown up and a worker at Allied Recycling reported the suspects tried to sell items there but left unhappy over the price. The same thing happened at All Scrap.
Anyone with information about the thefts is urged to call the Lee County Sheriff's Office at (239) 477-1000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
