Alligator Alley crash kills 1, injures 5 others

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - A two vehicle crash on Alligator Alley at mile marker 88 killed an Immokalee woman and left five others injured, including two children, one critically.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened this morning when 33-year-old Cecilia Renee Douglas drove her car into the rear of another vehicle traveling west on I-75. Her vehicle veered off the road through the fence and into the canal killing Douglas.
Two children riding with Douglas were injured. Three-year-old Rylee Douglas suffered critical injuries and four-year-old Madison Douglas was seriously injured. Both children were taken to Physicians Regional Hospital.
The other vehicle managed to make a controlled stop on the north shoulder. The driver of that vehicle, 41-year-old Dargel Diaz Tamayo of Opa Locka and his two passengers suffered minor injuries.
Possible charges in the crash are pending.
