WFTX - Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. day, which means schools, post offices, banks and most County offices are closed.

There are some events happening to celebrate King's birthday.

In Collier County, Fifth Avenue South will host Naples' annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade. The parade will start at 11:00 a.m. and will follow the traditional parade route beginning at Broad Avenue South and Third Street South before making its way to Fifth Avenue South. The parade will end with a celebration at Cambier Park on Eighth Street South. The celebration in Cambier Park will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Lee County parade in Fort Myers starts at 10 a.m. at Dunbar Jupiter-Hammon Library which is located at 3095 Blount Street in Fort Myers, Florida. This celebration has been co-sponsored by Lee County Black History Society and Fort Myers.  The Fort Myers celebration will follow at Centennial Park and goes until 5 p.m.

In Charlotte County, a parade will begin a the Charlotte County event center, travel through downtown Punta Gorda on Taylor Street, and end at the Cooper Street Recreation Center.  The parade will run from 11am - 1pm
