IMMOKALEE, Fla. - A missing two-year-old girl was found this morning safe and sound in Immokalee not far from her family home.

Collier County Deputies started searching for a 2-year-old Immokalee child who went missing Sunday evening.

Denise Hernandez was last seen by her family in their residence on Wells Street when they put her to bed and was discovered missing around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

A child abduction response team was called to scene, which means resources inlcuding the FBI have been called to help. Crews are searching by land and with a helicopter.

Officials say a call was put in around 11:30 last night after her parents went in to check on the girl and found her window open and her missing.

FDLE has been notified that many Floridians awoke to a loud AMBER Alert message broadcast to their smartphones via a new national system around 1:45 a.m.  According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, smartphone customers are automatically enrolled to receive various alerts, including Amber Alerts.

FDLE has been advised that smartphone owners who want to opt out of these audible alerts can go to their ‘settings’ to turn off the alerts, or if that isn’t possible, to contact their service provider to opt out of the program.
