LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - The Lee County Sheriff's deputies now have a homicide case on their hands.

The investigation comes after a man discovered what he thought was a body in Lehigh Acres on Christmas Eve. Since it was dark, the man returned to the area of Hedgewood Street and Meadow Road Christmas morning and what he found led him to call law enforcement.

Deputies now say that body belongs to 26-year-old Gregory Mathews, also known as "Bam."

The sheriff's office is not saying at this point how Mathews died.

Anyone with information on his murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.

Callers could be eligible for a cash reward of $1,000.
