Scooter thief sought in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who stole a scooter from Motor Sports located at 3120 Winkler Avenue.

The business owner says a known customer arrived at his business in a car accompanied by another man unknown to the owner.  The customer wanted to purchase a scooter along with the suspect. 

The owner opened up the cash drawer and began to take money from the customer when the other man reached behind the counter and grabbed the business owner's gun.

The suspect pointed the gun at the business owner and demanded all of the money from the register.  He then stole a display scooter and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 25, standing 5'6", with medium length dreadlocks.  He was wearing dark colored pants and a green t-shirt with a photograph on the front.  Anyone with information is asked to call FMPD at 321-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
