LEE COUNTY, Fla. - 12-12-12 is an extra special day for dozens of people in Lee County, who took advantage of the unusual day to say 'I do.'
Four In Your Corner's Colleen Hogan was with couples Wednesday at the very busy Lee County recording office, as they tied the knot.
At least eight couples got married by 10:00 a.m.
Joe and Jenapher Ramirez of Ft. Myers were one of them.
"With the date 12-12 approaching, 12 years later, we thought it'd be good to go ahead and tie the knot," Jenapher Ramirez said.
"I thought it was a cool date," her new husband Joe laughed.
They chose this day to say their vows twelve years after they got together, in front of their girls and grandparents. Their grandparents have been married 51 years.
"I'm tickled to death," Jenapher's grandfather James Gay said. "The younger people lately don't really wanna get married and make a commitment, so we're glad they made their commitment."
"Today is a special day to do it," Lee County recording clerk Clarene Douglas said. "It's been fun since the time we opened the door."
Ken and Carissa Fox also took the day to make it official. The couple met at a party and have been together ever since. Carissa joked the anniversary would be easy to remember.
Staff at the recording office knew 12-12-12 was going to be busy by the amount of requests for marriage licenses they've had.
"Marriage is very sacred and for us," Douglas said. "As a family here at the recording office, we take great pride, as well as pleasure in marrying couples."
Jason and Adriana Vincent of Ft. Myers also chose this day for the significance.
"12-12, and I'm the baby of 12, so today's a very special day," Adriana Vincent said. "I really wanted this to be happening today, and it is."
