Crist jumps to Democratic Party
TAMPA, Fla. - In a tweet former Florida Republican Governor Charlie Crist announced a switch of party affiliations that caught no one by surprise.
Bashed for embracing President Barack Obama's economic stimulus program in 2009, Crist lost a primary run for the U.S. Senate eventually taken by current Senator Marco Rubio. Crist then made an ill-fated run for the Senate as an independent.
Signs that Crist was considering a move to the Democratic Party came this summer when Crist appeared as a prime time speaker at the Democratic National Convention.
Crist is widely expected to make another run for governor against incumbent Governor Rick Scott in 2014.
