CREATED Dec. 6, 2012

MARCO ISLAND, Fla. - Marco Island firefighters battled a boat fire in a garage at 32 Gulfport Court Tuesday night.

Fire crews found the fire rapidly moving through the garage into the attic and across the living areas of the home.

During the fire fight the boats fuel tank ruptured sending fuel down the driveway creating hazardous conditions for firefighters.  A foam blanket was used to stop the fuel from catching fire.

The City of Marco Island Fire Rescue Department received assistance at the incident from Isle of Capri Fire Department, East Naples Fire Department and Ochopee Fire Department. Golden Gate Fire Department provided coverage to the City during the fire.

The fire required 24 firefighters to bring under control.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
