Fatal crash kills Englewood man

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - A two vehicle crash at Biggs Street and SR 776 killed an 88-year-old Englewood man and injured two others.

The Florida Highway Patrol identified the dead man as Louis Plante.  He was a passenger with his wife, 87-year-old Doris Plante, who was critical injured in the crash.

The FHP says Plante was at a stop sign on Biggs when she attempted to make a left turn onto SR 776 when her Buick SUV was hit by a Dodge van driven by 43-year-old Kenneth Craig of Englewood.  Craig was attempting to make a left turn from SR 776 onto Biggs Street.  Craig suffered minor injuries.

The FHP reports that charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
