LEE COUNTY, Fla. - An investigation by Fox 4 leads to action after it appears county commissioners will be grounding a plane paid for by Lee County taxpayers.
For the past few years taxpayers have been paying for a private plane used by commissioners.
Commissioner Frank Mann proposed to sell the private plane and newly elected commissioners, Larry Kiker and Cecil Pendergrass said they support that proposal.
Some viewers have reached out to express their concern over the use of their dollars.
"I am so sick and tired of the money that they are wasting. They are wasting taxpayers money. They have no consideration for the tax payer and I'm glad somebody finally got something out of their hands", said Pat from Lehigh Acres.
The subject has upset viewers on facebook as well with Larry posting, "Why do they need a plane?I've been out of work for the past three years and can't even put food on the table for my family, that's how they spend our money? Shameful."
Marco writing "Outrageous! I hope they get rid of it."
"Sell it and put the money to use helping the county," says Ed.
Commissioners Mann and Kiker say they plan to make the motion to sell the plane at a meeting in January.
