Fort Myers - The family of a boy struck and killed by lightning is filing a multi-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against McGregor Baptist church and SWFL Christian Academy.
Chuck Watlington says his son's death could have been prevented if lightning detection devices were used that day and if coaches knew CPR.
Some Fox 4 viewers say the lawsuit is not necessary.
One man calling in says, "The suit is vindictive. It's not for the purpose of sending a message."
Barry called the station saying someone should pay for wrong doing. He adds, "I know this is never going to bring their son back but I wouldn't want to be a father that has to live knowing that if things had been done my son would be alive today."
While Racquel says, "If the parents are trying to get a point across, and they want to make sure that the school has all of the necessary equipment for a child to prevent such a tragedy from happening and CPR certification, that's understandable. If they were really suing for the right thing..they wouldn't be stuck suing for any monetary amount."
Peter also called Fox 4 saying, "If someone gets struck by lightning, that's of course by God. That has nothing to do with anyone."
