FORT MYERS, Fla.- Multiple ambulances rushed to the intersection of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Sabal Palm Blvd. in Fort Myers on Monday morning.

A box truck slammed into the back of a Lee Tran bus.

"It's shocking. It could be any of us. In that split moment is all it takes," said witness Rodney Withers.

Witnesses say the bus was stopped waiting for passengers at the bus stop when the driver of the bus truck rear-ended the bus.

"My jaw just dropped. I'm like I can't believe he couldn't see the bus," said John Guiffre, witness.

8 people were taken to the hospital including both drivers, passengers and a bystander hit by debris.

"Especially as you approach bus stops, see Lee Tran buses, stop. You need to make sure you're  paying attention and taking precautions to make sure this very accident doesn't happen to you," said Ben Abes, Lee County EMS.

Those transported only suffered minor injuries, but from the looks of what is left of the front end of the truck , things could have been worse.

"If you look at the damage, it could have been a very different story," said Abes.

No word yet on if anyone will be cited.
